Written by Kalar Rajendiran A week into the public revelation of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, lots of questions have been raised, movements such as #DeleteFacebook have picked up momentum, and many famous people have demonstrated support including Elon Musk’s deletion of Tesla and SpaceX Facebook pages. Hate to burst the bubble here. Unless and until the user community gains a clear understanding of the Facebook platform, it cannot take control and scandals will likely continue. No, this is not a pessimistic prediction. One simply has to search for other Facebook scandals in the past to realize the increasing scope and impact of these scandals.
Let’s analyze why the steps Facebook has announced in the wake of this recent scandal will not address or prevent future occurrences of this type of scandal. In the face of this, it behooves the user community to take control and push for changes that will actually work.

Written by Don Harrington, Sage Consulting Group We all know how hard it is to find quality talent. Generally speaking, we hire too quickly and fire too slowly. As many of us start to have aging workforces, we need to be mindful of what they want or need and what is best for the business.
Sometimes people are just done and don’t want to work anymore. Don’t try to keep them, even if they have a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge. Help them exit gracefully by asking them to help you hire, on-board and train their replacements. You will also want to protect yourself from age discrimination issues. While this requires work and diligence, it is better to be proactive and recognize when someone is done instead of trying to get them to stay because it makes your life easier. |
